Registered Nurse Locum

Pintubi Homelands Health Service is seeking the services of a Registered Nurse to practice within a multidisciplinary primary health care environment.

Your role will be to provide continuity to the established primary health care services delivered by Pintubi Homelands Health Service. Participate in an after hours on call roster. Work with Aboriginal Health Workers to provide culturally appropriate health care. The position is primarily to provide relief to the full time RNs, the duration of each contract will vary between 4 to 12 weeks. Excellent communication and active listening skills and a non judgmental attitude are essential. Community Medical Officer

Pintubi Homelands Health Service is an Aboriginal controlled health service located in Kintore Community 530ks west of Alice Springs. The population is approximately 500. Kintore is a growing community with well established infrastructure. A permanently manned Police Station was opened in 2005. A local Council run Women’s Centre and Aged Care operate in the Community. A bitumen airstrip provides all weather access to Alice Springs. A new clinic was opened in 2003.

The Community Medical Officer provides clinical leadership and contributes to the maintenance, development and implementation of primary health care models within Pintubi Homelands Health Service. The position involves provision of clinical services, health promotion, and prevention with a focus on strategies that engage a holistic approach; are culturally appropriate, and, engage all the health care providers within the service. The position reports to the Health Council through the CEO. Registration with the NT Medical Board or eligibility to do so is a requirement. Terms of employment will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
